From abroad to TOPIC | Engineers who made the move

donderdag 18 september 2025

We’re proud to be a multicultural company with colleagues from over 25 nationalities. This diversity strengthens our mission to make the world better, healthier and smarter - bringing fresh perspectives and global experience to our work. It also creates a vibrant and inclusive workplace where everyone feels welcome and supported.

Helping Newcomers Feel at Home

Relocating to a new country is a big step, and we do our best to support our international colleagues from day one by offering help with the relocation, giving them a warm welcome and hosting events to celebrate different cultures.

  • Relocation Support: We offer practical onboarding support and optional relocation assistance to help with the transition. This includes guidance before and after arrival, and most international hires receive a relocation budget to cover costs like flights or the first month’s rent. Our goal is to make the move as smooth and stress-free as possible.
  • Introduction Day: Every month, new employees join a session to learn about TOPIC’s story, meet the CEO and Business Managers, and enjoy lunch together. It’s a great way to connect and get familiar with our culture.
  • TOPICulture Nights: Twice a year, we celebrate one of the many cultures represented at TOPIC. Colleagues share traditional food, music, games and stories from their home country. It’s a fun and inspiring way to learn from each other.

Real Stories: Moving to the Netherlands

Gerhard, originally from South Africa, moved to the Netherlands with his family in 2023 after joining TOPIC. Drawn by Eindhoven’s reputation for world-class tech and engineering, he saw it as a unique chance to grow professionally while giving his children the experience of living abroad.

“Working at TOPIC introduced me to a truly international environment, with colleagues from many different countries, a new experience for me. I quickly noticed the Dutch reputation for directness, but I’ve come to appreciate their straightforward approach and the ‘live and let live’ mindset. It makes it easier to just be yourself. “

Rihab, a software engineer from Tunisia, came to the Netherlands after completing an internship in Paris. A friend had recommended the country for its friendly people, interesting projects, and good work-life balance. She started out at a small company before joining TOPIC, where the international environment and permanent contract gave her more stability. That allowed her to focus on her development and settle into life in the Netherlands.

“The company feels like a big family. People are honest, friendly and always willing to help. Working here is exactly as promised.”

Her advice to others considering a move?

“Just go for it—you’ll learn so much.”
